Solivita Resident Jim Guth served in the U.S. Navy for 26 years, where he commanded two nuclear submarines and oversaw hundreds of people. He also served as a program director for a $1 billion classified program in the Navy.

After his military service, he worked at Boeing and as a consultant before becoming involved in politics. More recently, he has been a Member of the Board of Directors for Advent Health West Florida, and a Member of the Board of Trustees for Heart of Florida Hospital.

He served as the Polk County GOP chairman from 2013 and recently retired from that position. He has run for Polk County Commission. He also served as a district-level delegate to the 2016 Republican National Convention from Florida.
